Dear Lakeshore members,
On behalf of the LMHF Board of Directors, with the 2015-2016 season behind us, we now prepare for the 2016-2017 season. The success of the various programs that was reported during the Annual General Meeting (a complete list can be found at www.lmhf.qc.ca ) is a tribute to the work that all our coaches are providing to our kids as well as the support and effort that our General Managers provide to our coaches.
I would like to thank Mike McGrath – V.P Double Letters, for all his work with our double letter program. His guidance and leadership is a key factor in our programs success and continued player development. I would also like to take a few minutes to thank our division general managers: Stewart McNab (Prenovice), Carey Devine (Novice), Patrick Bitton (Atom), Ed Dodds (Peewee), Chris Careth and Gates Campo (Bantam), Johnny D’Orazio (Midget), Tony Gervasi (Junior), Anita Gualtieri (Westlake – Hockey Feminin)
Our Operations department continues to do a fantastic job with the recruitment and development of our officials.
Congratulations to our Referee In Chief. Marc Travers and our Director of Hockey Operations (Marc Vallee) for all the work they do with our officials. I would also like to thank Kelly-Anne Soutter (Registrar), and Deborah Carriere (Ice Scheduler) for all the support given to our teams and programs over the course of the year.
As we embark on the new season we say good-bye to a familiar face and Lakeshore stalwart. Glenn Watt has decided to hang up the abacus as Treasurer. Please join me in extending our gratitude to Glenn for close to 10 years of service as LMHF treasurer. Glenn’s guidance and diligence will be missed. Search for a new treasurer has already begun 2016-2017
As we move forward towards the 2016-2017 season, we again will be facing a few new changes with regards to Hockey Quebec regulations. The introduction of AAA and AAA releve at the Structure Integre level, the elimination of the CC category (replaced by a AA/BB classification) and the re-introduction of Atom AA. These changes are strictly cosmetic at this point as the recruiting bassins have not been changed.
Last year marked our first year of on-line registrations. While we encountered a few glitches, for the most part those have been straightened out and we will continue with the registration process directly on-line as well as at our office over the next few weeks. Please read the registration section closely to be sure to complete your registration properly and avoid delay.
We now have a twitter account that will be used to share announcements regarding schedules, alumni news, and well as current LMHF events. Please follow us om twitter @lmhfhockey. We are on Facebook as well, so follow us for stories and highlights from events during the year.
We will be launching a LMHF app for smartphones later this year. It is currently under construction. Available for free from the app store (stay tuned). We will be using the app as a tool for communicating announcements so we are very excited to get this launched.
With the new website, we will be limited in emailing through the website. We are exploring new ways to email the membership. One thing that is important is to make sure you update the email address on your profile when you complete the registration process.
In closing, I would like to remind all parents that all of the volunteer work is for not if we don’t have the understanding, the dedication and the commitment of the parents. Fortunately, in Lakeshore we are blessed with an enthusiasm for hockey that makes these achievements possible. Striving to give the kids the “best possible hockey experience” could not be possible without you. Thank you all for your commitment to our programs.
